The weather department on Tuesday issued a heavy rain alert for most of Telangana for the next 48 hours, with intense spells expected in Hyderabad and the northern districts.
City officials said emergency teams had been placed at known waterlogging points and that pumps were ready at underpasses. Residents were advised to avoid travel during heavy spells.
District collectors have been asked to keep relief centres ready and to monitor tanks and small reservoirs that are already close to full.
